wow!
A truly wonderful range of easy to wear garments in a super-fine merino wool that has a 99.9% comfort factor. You wouldn't know it's wool, it feels so great on your skin. As there have been no chemicals used in the processing of this wool and it has not been blended with inferior quality wool to bulk it out, Milkymerino has retained all the good qualities that wool 'used' to have. We have added some MILK fibre to make it special! Milk fibre has been used for years for inner wear garments and helps to stabilize the wool. As the wool is virually organic we decided it needed to be dyed organically/naturally as well. It seemed a shame to spoil this wonderful fabric with harsh chemical dyes that are bad for your skin and bad for our environment. We then decided it was time to take back control over our manufacturing and restart making in Melbourne again. This means garments can be ordered in season and re-ordered as needed. We don't hold lots of stock but make as we go along. This way we are not wasting anything. It also means that our customers have more control over their own stock situation, a win/win for everyone.
Care instructions: I would recommend hand washing, especially if your garment is pieced with different colours in it. Use luke warm water and a neutral soap, wool wash or even dishwashing liquid works fine. Do not soakl. Dry out of direct sunlight and take care not to distort the shape. If you have good hangers you can hang the garment to dry but beware of "points" forming in the shoulders.
During the dye process the fabric goes through a number of washing and drying cycles. This means the fabric is basically pre-shrunk. Sometimes a bit of extra colour may still come out in the first couple of washes. This is normal, it just means there was some un-bonded colour still on the surface of the fabric.
Natural dyes will fade over time, but show me a chemically dyed garment that doesn't! Just handle your garment with care and you should be able to wear it for years to come.
